I fly a lot and am glad that I have been able to use bitcoins to do so. Using CheapAir (http://www.cheapair.com) I have the option of paying for my plane ticket with bitcoins. The site is like most big name airfare websites where you enter your source and destination along with the date and any other information. It then searches all of the airlines and gives you the price in dollars. You find the flight you want, fill in your information then select the “Bitcoin” payment option.
At that point it redirects you to a Coinbase payment page where you scan the QR code or copy the Bitcoin address into your wallet and pay. Within seconds the transaction goes through and you’re all set. You get your receipt in e-mail and your itinerary.
The cool thing about CheapAir is that if you buy your ticket then the price goes down before you fly, CheapAir will give you a voucher for the difference. Good for paying toward your next flight (up to $100). This happened to me once, I checked a few weeks out from my trip and the price had dropped $80. I submitted the ticket and got my voucher.
The downside is that it does not serve all of those tiny airlines in Europe such as Ryanair or Wizz Air. If you’re flying those you’ll need to find another way to reserve your ticket.
I highly recommend CheapAir for any plane ticket purchase.
